Founder and creator of the Pencil
The inventor of the Pencil is known as Konrad Gessner in 1564, he found the graphite from the roman writing instrument called the stylus. Also they used it on a thin metal rod. The discovery was found in Borrowdale, England. Which then is how the creation started and is the reason we can write today in class. -
Start of the creation of the pencil
In the year 1795, the discovery of the pencil became more clear in that the mixture of clay and graphite were put together and put in kilh fire, which creates a great writing utensil. -
Inside the pencil
It was to be the stocks of Cumberland graphite was used in the early 1800s, and imported graphite was used instead.This was also clogged with grit and sand particles which then had to be removed it by crfushings the graphite. Then it was heated and compressed. -

The next development of the Pencil was to glue the pieced graphite onto the pencil groves, also and surplus graphite was simply scraped away. The improvements made to the makeing of the pencil was a big step for this product and its history. -

A couple years later they figured that they needed to glue the further piece of wood was then glued on top and then several of theses pieces or blocks were put together and left to dry. This really gave a good idea of how this writing utensil has developed along the way. -
Finish of the Pencil
This final stage of the development of the pencil, the completed pencils were then polished off and smoothened by a plane. Then the pencils were cut to uniform length and sawed appropriatly. -
First Pencil Factory
In 1832, the first record of a Factory making pencils in Keswick. Which this had big impact in the creation of the pencil and how it was produced and selled from. I think it was a good thing for the economy at that time. -
First pencil machine
William monroe in the US invented the first machine capable to make wooden groves in the slats of the pencil. This had a big effect of how the pencil looks and how it still looks and feels today. -
Colored pencils
In 1938 the developement of the first 24 colored Derwent pencils and the series 19. The impact it made on ones childhood to color and draw. It is still very well known all around the world. -

Then later in 1977, Derwent then developed the Colourland pencils in 36 colors. I think this improved the options to color with for kids.
