Chris J. McCandless gratuates from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Decided then that is going to to set out on his first adventure in his yellow datson and travel across the Untied Sates.
Chris Loved his yellow Datsun, After Graduating his dad wanted to buy him a new car. Chris was offended that he wanted to spend money on something so useless like another car. Even though he didn't care about educaton he thought to himself that he good enough marks to maybe get into harvard, but decided he didnt want to impress his dad anymore though. -
Arrives at Lake Mead National Recreation Area in Nevada.

After a flash flood Chris leaves his loved yellow Datsun behind. He continues into the bush on foot.
This is one turning point in Chris's life. After the flood most of the things he packed for his trip was runied and the road was washed out. He took off on foot with out half his gear. He was hiking around but because of the hot July temperatures he suffered from extreme heat stroke. Most of the iteams left behind later in his adventure he would have needed. It would have helped in alot ex. his riffle! -
After hitch hiking in Willow Creek, California, Chris recieves a ticket in the mail for hitching. His parents become extremely worried about him.

He reaches the Colorado River where he continues South through the desert, arriving in Topock, Arizona.He buys a second-hand canoe

Chris's parents hire a private investigator to find him
After recieving a hitch hiking ticket in the mail at there Annnandale resitdents Walt and Billie McCandless became very worried about there son. They hired a private invesgator named Peter Kalitka. Using the tickets location of Willow Creek as his starting point for his search. -
Reaches the Morelos Dam and the Mexican border

Encouters a dangerous waterfalls along the Colorado River

Chris realizes that he can't reach the Gulf of California by canoe.He meets a couple of duck hunters that ofter to give him a ride.

Pulls the canoe out of the water.He decides it isn't safe.

He discovers a cave where he hides out from a severe weaher. He sents up camp for 10 days.

He decides to leave his canoe in the El Golfo de Santa Clara.

Tries to sneak back into the United States over the Mexican boarder. He spends a night in jail after US imagration catches him. He talks himself out troube after proving proof that he's a US citizen.

Burries his back pack in the ground and hitch hikes to Las Vegas

Chris almost drowns to death in his canoe after a bad wind storm.
Chris almost drowning scares him an realized he better head back out into town and better prepare himself. He thought to himself "if i've already had a brush with disaster, what was Alaska going to be like?" -
Chris meets Wayne Westerberg. They become close firends. Wayne giving him and place to stay and work.

Arrives in Bullhead City, Arizona, where he worked for two months at McDonald's and lived in an empty RV in a field beside a man named Charlie.The owners of the land had no idea Chris was living on their land.

Sends a postcard to Jan Burres in Niland, California, including a map so she and boyfriend Bob can visit him in Bullhead City.

Visits Jan and Bob at there campsite where he again stays for a while.

Calls Franz to pick hm up
Franz , a devout Christian and spent most of his life in the army. -
Spends the night at Franz house.

Buys a hand gun and starts his journey in Alaska.

Hitch hking Chris gets picked up from Jim Gillien. Gillien drives him to Stampede Trail.

Finds an old bus beside the Sushana River

McCandless starts to live off the land collecting berries and killing small aniamls over the mouth.

Shoots and kills his first big animal. He killed a moose.

Prepares his backpack and sets out on the 20-mile hike back to the road.

Gets turned around on his hike and returns back to the bus.

Writes in his journal that he isnt doing well! "EXTREMELY WEAK, FAULT OF POT. SEED. MUCH TROUBLE JUST TO STAND UP. STARVING. GREAT JEOPARDY."
Chris is starting to realize no that we probably isn't going to make it out alive. His journal entries now are harsh and sad. -
write another very important jounral entry. "DAY 100! MADE IT!" and "BUT IN WEAKEST CONDITION OF LIFE. DEATH LOOMS AS SERIOUS THREAT.

Chris post an S.O.S. note on the bus while he forages nearby for berries. Writes his final journal entry: "Beautiful Blueberries."
Writing this S.O.S note chris is starting to get a bit delisional. He thinks someone will come acroos the bus, not knowing people haven't passed by in years. At this point he he had muscle pain, loss of hair,diizziness, shortness of breath. He had become sensitve to cold. His mind was coming in and out iof a sense of dissolution! -
Chris J. McCandless dies of stavation while sleeping in the blue sleeping bag his mom made him as a boy in the bus along the Sushana River in Alaska.
