  • First World War climate conference

    = There was evidence of increasing carbon dioxide levels and climate change was recognised as a serious problem.
  • Intergovernmental panel on climate change (IPCC)

    Is a collaborative body which have over 2000 climate scientists around the world. It provides regular assessment on climate change.
  • Global economic crisis

    International will to negotiate on reducing carbon emission decreases as the national economies fall. The fall results in lower GHG emissions.
  • Paris agreement - Council adopts conclusions on climate diplomacy

    Council recognises that European Union will continue to lead global climate action. And recognises the implications climate change has for international security and stability.
  • 25th Conference of Parties

    Taking place in December 2019 in Chile. Will be the deadline for countries to update their first Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). Also a critical moment for countries to commit to recovering from emissions and meet the goals of the Paris agreement.
  • 2030 climate and energy framework

    Is a framework for European Union climate and energy policies between 2020 and 2030. The framework helps EU address issues such as energy prices, reducing greenhouse gas emission, energy infrastructure, dependence on energy imports. The green house gas reduction target is 2030.
