Eli whitney, who graduated Yale, created the cotten gin which automatically seperated the cotton seed from the cotton fiber. This was a law to track down the run away slaves. This came along with the Compromise of 1850. The Congress pass a law that they would help slave holders get back their runaway slaves, and so people paid slave hunters to capture back certain slaves, and there were more stricter rules again the abolitionists who helped the runaway salves. -
