The cotton gin was also invented by Eli Whitney. It was used to quickly separate cotton fibers from their seeds. This quickly got cotton ready for textiles, and still is used in a variation today. -

Thomas Edison was an American businessman and inventor. He is most popularly known for his invention of the light bulb. He did a lot with electricity and wiring. He helped develop modern day technologies like motion pictures and circuits. Edison was a very large factor to the success of the industrial revolution. -

Communism grew as a part of the socialist movement in the industrial revolution. The people blamed capitalism for the troubles, so the figured this would help instead. Communism is a political theory derived from Karl Marx, advocating class war and leading to a society in which all property is publicly owned and each person works and is paid according to their abilities and needs. -
Socialism
Socialism is a political and economic theory of social organization which advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole. It mainly began in the 1860's and was used by the communist Party of China. It was developed to respond to the economic and social issued the industrial revolution caused. -
Social Darwinism
Social Darwinism is the theory that individuals, groups, and peoples are subject to the same Darwinian laws of natural selection as plants and animals. This is now discredited, but was developed from Charles Darwin, who was a very reliable man. It applied the biological concepts of natural selection and survival of the fittest to sociology, economics and politics. -
Social Gospel
Social Gospel is Christian faith practiced as a call not just to personal conversion but to social reform. It was developed also off of socialism. Things rooted in Protestant churches. It emphasized how Jesus' ethical teachings could remedy the problems caused by “Gilded Age” capitalism. -

The automobile was a new way to get from place to place without animal or human power. It has 3 to 4 wheels and ran on gas. It was first made under the Ford Company. These are still used and modernly developed today. -

The airplane was first invented by the wright brothers. It has two wings and a place to lay in the middle, and it flew through the air. It was revolutionary to the world of travel, and was modernly developed to use today. -
Assembly Line
The assembly line was started by Henry Ford. It was found to be a more efficient way to assemble his vehicles. It is still widely used today all over the world. -
Social Democracy
Social democracy also developed from socialism, but is a more modernized form. It is defined as a political, social, and economic philosophy within socialism that supports political and economic democracy.
