Using Thomas Newcomen's steam engine ideas and parts, James Watt manages to perfect the steam engine. We now use it in modern day time. Using this, many other inventors adapted Watt's engine and used it for cloth making purposes. We also use it for other purposes, including the making of the water-powered loom. Edmund Cartwright invents the power loom
Edmund Cartwright invented the water-powered loom in 1787. Using this machine, factories were able to be placed near water and had an abundant kind of energy to use to produce products. Congress of Vienna restores the balance of power
After Napoleon's defeat, European rulers wanted to restore the old order. Countries Great Britain, Prussia, Austria, and Russia met at the Congress of Vienna to make a peace treaty. Factory act of 1833 is established
When the factory act of 1833 was established, many children were unable to work under the age of 9. Many women took their place in factories, because women and children were made up of 2/3 of the factpry population. Louis-Napoleon becomes emporer and assumes the title of Napoleon III
In France, events after the revolution of 1848 moved toward the restoration of the monarchy. Four years after his election as president in 1848, Louis-Napoleon returned to the people to ask for the restoration of the empire. 97 percent of the people responded with a yes vote.On December 2, 1852, Louis-Napoleon assumed the title of Napoleon III, Emperor of France. South Carolina withdraws from the U.S.
In 1860, South Carolina votes to withdraw from the U.S. In 1861, six more states followed. Together, they became the Confederacy. This caused a huge war against the North and South called the American Civil War. Source:

The Italian kingdom falls under King Victor Emmanuel II
On March 17, 1861, a new kingdom of Italy was proclaimed under King Victor Emmanuel II. After Guiseppe Garibaldi conquered the kingdom of Sicily, he grew powerful enough to cross over to the mainland. There, he took over the kingdom of Naples. Louis Pasteur invents the germ disease theory
Louis Pasteur invents the germ theory, which people required in order to develop more practices and ways to use modern science medication. Using this, there were also more develops in medicene. William I becomes the emperor of the Holy German Empire
During January 18, 1871, William I is crowned the emperor of the Second German Empire. The first was the medieval Holy Roman Empire.His coronation took place in Versailles, just outside Paris, after 6 German states agreed to join the North German Confederation.
