Amritsar massacre (1615 casualties). The general thought that the protesters knew that meeting in public places was illegal, so he told his soldiers to shoot without a warning, it was a closed space, and they werent able to escape. -

The Salt March. Gandhi organizes demonstration to defy Salt Acts. They had to pay sales tax on salt and could only buy it from the government. Gandhi and his followers walked about 240 miles to the seacoast to make salt. -

British parliament passes Government of India Act. It provided local self-government and limited democratic elections, but not total independence. -
