Gandhi returns
Gandhi returns from South Africa and starts leading the non-violent protests agaisn the British -
Rowlatt Act passed
An act passed by the British which strengthened police power while also restricting freedom of expression. Many Indians as well as Gandhi opposed to this act. -
Non-coorporation movement
A movement in which the INC retracted their support of the British after the Rowlatt act. A non-violent movement led by Gandhi. -
The Simon Comission
Made by the British government to assist the Indian government in making decesions, but it did not have any Indian members so it was boycotted. -
Quit India Movement
Led by Gandhi demanding to end British rule. Most leaders of this movement were jailed within a couple hours. -
Independence
India becomes independent. The British India gets seperated into two (Indian and Pakistan). Burma and Sri Lanka are now self-ruling.
