Empathize

Encourage
Make sure to offer words of encouragement to validate that they are welcome, wanted, valued, and important during communication. -
Learn To Communicate Effectively
"By speaking eloquently, you will come across more intelligent and mature" (Page 3). This is the case in many situations when a conversation is occurring. Non verbal channels are very important and so is body language. Do not have negative body language, make eye contact, and avoid defensive attitudes! -
Use Humor
"Laughing releases endorphins that can help your body relieve stress and anxiety" (Page 4). When you use humor in communication, it helps relieve stress and improves your speech and understanding! -
Attempt to Resolve Conflict
"Learn how to be an effective mediator and negotiator" (Page 5). Listening skills will help you hear and understand, then interpret what the opposing force is saying! Always resolve the argument.
