    The Views of John Locke
John Locke was a philosopher during the enlightenment. He influenced education in a way that later influenced how education is for children now. His philosophy believed that education should be about character and intellect. With this, it helped to come up with the idea that children learn better through play and hands-on activities and not just structure and studying.

    Faculty Psychology
Christian Wolff's idea of "faculty psychology" stated that the best way to strengthen the minds of younger students was through tedious drills and repetition of what we might now call the basic skills in order to cultivate memory. With this idea in mind, it influenced a lot of the education in the 19th century and some of the education now.

    The mind of a child
Philosopher Jean-Jacques Rousseau explains that a child's mind works differently than an adult's mind. Children learn through hands-on experience and play. I think Jean is a very important person because of the way he explains the creativity and play of children. He also helps to acknowledge the fact that women don't get the best education that they deserve, but men do.

    The end of the Enlightenment
I feel that one of the biggest impacts on education was the period of The Enlightenment. Because of these events and the enlightenment itself, fueled widespread education when it ended. This also led to the founding of universities and libraries.

This movement created IQ tests that help to see which children need a little bit more help. This movement was to measure the intelligence in a human's brain. I feel that when these IQ tests were created, they led to many developmental influences on children. The two philosophers that were responsible for this movement are Alfred Binet and Theodore Simon.
