7 Years war (End)
The ending of the 7 years war allowed Britain to exert her dominace elsewhere than in just the eastern hemisphere, mainly showing her new dominace as being the only world super power. Being able to be away from Europe, Britain set their sights to erase their debt with help from the colonists. -
Proclomation of 1763
British stated that colonists shouldn't settle west of the Appalachain mountains. This was to keep fighting with the natives from occuring. The colonists expanded westward anyway. -
Boston Massacre
The Boston Massacre was where British soilders gunned down Colonists. As to why this happened, the actual events are unknown. Rumors of boxing, snowballs, and other things are suspected as to why this happened. -
Boston Tea Party
An uprising by American colonists against the Tea act where tea was dumped into the boston harbor. This was against the british and the East India Company. -
Concord and Lexington
The first battles of the Revolutionary War. The first shot was fired in Lexington. -
Battle of Bunker Hill
Althought the british won, their victory cost them heavy losses, while the colomists suffered little. Showed the british the colonists aren't going to back down. -
Battle of Trent
The Battle of Trent was a huge turning point in the war due to George Washington and his soilders ambushing the brithish on Christmas Night. He basically caught them while they were sleeping and caused them to surrender. This added more support and pride from Americans/colonists. -
Articles of Confederation
Basically, the first constitution. Although very weak, it was ratified by all 13 states. Since the states didn't cooperate well with one another, it did not work out. -
Battle of Yorktown
This was basically the end of the Revolutionary War. Cornwallis was forced to surrender when he was surrounded and not saved by the British fleet as he had hoped. -
Shay's Rebellion
Shay's rebellion helped to show that the articles of confederation was far too weak and needed to be completely redone. The weakness was in that the government had no ability to enforce the laws or assemble the military.
