    When many countries were still involved with the first world war, Spain would report new cases of a respiratory flu, which people later called "Spanish flu" There were over 2 million cases of the influenza by the end of the pandemic, and it did not help that soldiers returning home ended up spreading the flu from polish troops to Northern Ontario where the province ended up shutting down many businesses which was not good for the economy.

    More InfoProhibition was a country wide alcohol ban, to try to improve drink related crime, many woman's group's supported this idea. However instead smugglers found more creative ways to sneak "bootleg booze" which was made illegally into the country, like by boat across the lakes this caused more organised crime and illegal drinking.

    More Info during the 1919 Winnipeg general strike, where angry workers were protesting for stable wages and better working conditions, things got violent and the Mayor Charles Gray called the Northwestern Mounted Police, who then charged into the crowd and 1 man was killed and 30 were injured and over a hundred were arrested. 5 days after, the strike ended.

    More Info Henry Ford discovered that if he put the framework of a car on a conveyor belt and had individual workers who added parts to the car as it went down the line, he could make cars, faster, and cheaper, like the Model T. This discovery helped many Canadians get from place to place, including finding new opportunities for work outside the city. At this time, the price of a Model T was only $395

    More Info In the 1920's the Indian Act was passed as a mandatory law that every child of school age was to attend a residential school, and it was illegal for them to go to any other educational school in Canada. The Indian act broke up many families and caused stress and harm to many indigenous children

    More Info In the early 1920's the radio became widely popular among Canadians, it was a way for people to connect with each other through the media shows they could listen to. There was a variety of programs you could listen to including sports, which brought many people together.

    More Info Washing machines helped shape the 1920's for what they were, they gave women a chance to get out of the house by giving them more free time. Instead of hand washing and scrubbing laundry, wives and mothers could use their new washing machine and get the job done quicker with less labour involved.

Flappers would often dance the charleston at speakeasies to new jazz music.

    More Info Relief Camps were invented by Andrew McNaughton and gave men without jobs due to the depression a place to work. Here the men would get food, shelter, medical attention if needed, and a small amount of pay to live off of instead of living on the streets. However some men over time decided to take their chances in other cities finding work, since the pay was so little and the food and shelter were not great.

    More InfoThe forming of the new democratic political party, the CCF founded in Calgary Alberta. This party was a combination of progressive, socialist and labour groups. This party was made to help people affected by the great depression. This party now goes by NDP which is one of the three major parties in Canada.

    Men had become tired of the relief camps, since they were working for the bare minimum of food, pay and supplies, men would often "ride the rails" and boarded trains to ottawa so they could protest the relief camps to the government. Men who rode the rails to ottawa all wanted a minimum wage, and securibility in their jobs, however the prime minister R.B Bennett didn't seem to mind their situations as the trekkers had "broken the law" and that they planned to overthrow the government.
