Assess the success of current Electives. Delete electives that have been unsuccessful or have low student interest. Add new electives based on student interest.

Administration and Support Staff create a uniform template. This template will be utilized by teachers as they revise and or create course descriptions for all electives.

Staff will be presented with information on electives that were removed and ones that were added. Presentation of template and timeline for completion.

The leadership team will review and approve elective course descriptions, identify ones that need revisions, and start creating kid friendly course descriptions to be used for promotion of the electives.

All kid friendly course descriptions are due. These will be reviewed and approved by Administration and Support Staff.

Teachers will take a survey to list their top three choices of elective courses they are interested in teaching.

By March 2nd, all current 7th grade students will take a survey in which they will identify their top 3 elective choices by numbering them 1, 2, 3. This survey will be used to place them in their elective course in 8th grade.

By March 3rd, yearbook and 21st century through media teachers will help create a video featuring the offered electives. This video will be presented during 6th grade student and parent orientation.

6th grade students will visit our school for a brief orientation and preview of offered electives. They will receive elective survey forms and will be able to submit them during 6th grade parent orientation that same evening.

All 6th grade elective surveys do to the middle school by the end of the day. Counselor will drive to each elementary school to collect all forms that were not submitted during the 6th grade parent orientation.

By April 7th work will have been completed on assessing curriculum being utilized in electives. Research will be completed for curriculum, software, resources, and or technology needed for each elective.

By the end of April, all purchase orders for all curriculum, technology, resources, etc. will be created and submitted for approval.

Teachers will get an overview of Project Based Learning and will be provided with necessary tools to explore implementation for their elective classes.

By June 9th, teachers will have received PD on PBL and will be given an opportunity to plan their Project Based Learning Projects to be implemented during the 2017 - 2018 school year.
