An Act to Regulate the Carrying of Passengers in Merchant Vessels
This act limited the number of immigrants who could be carried on a ship to Canada. It regulated the amount of space given to them and required that passengers be supplied with the proper amount of sustenance on the voyage.

Chinese Head Tax
The Canadian government passed a law called the Chinese head tax that forced Chinese to pay a fee of 50$ to enter Canada. This stopped a large portion of immigration from China. The fee was raised to 500$ in 1903. -

It allows the government to deport unwanted immigrants like those suffering from an illnesses. This was also the year Canadian Citizenship was created.
