Hi I am Sammi Draskowski and I am moving to america from Ireland. I have brough some clothes, some money, and a couple of childhood memories. The potato famine has caused me to move to america with my best friend John.

I have finally arrived at Ellis Island! One more step before I reach what I have come for wealth and freedom.

Passed the test so I can go to the mainland. I didn't understand some of the things they were trying to say! Luckly I wasn't sick or injured. John also passed the test so we are going to board the ferry to the mainland.

I just moved into my first house in America using some of the money I brought with me. The house is in a quiet little street in Virginia. I am going to live here until I am ready to go west to get my free land.

Lost my job (effect) because I was talking back t my boss (cause). Now I have to find a new job and fast there are new people coming to the city everyday. I hope I can find a job before they are all taken.

Moving west (effect) because of overcrowding and not a lot of jobs (cause). I hope I will get my free land.

Some of my neighbors already had their land and had a house built so they came over to help me build my own house and barn. It was a very kind gesture and realy helped the process of me reaching my dreams.

Reached the west and received my land! Had to race for it, that wasn' a very pleasing suprise to how to ge land. The land is perfect for farming thanks to the homestead act.

On a nearby farm indians started to attack! I coud have gotten hurt or they could have destroyed my farm like they did with my neighbors.
