Katerina Rossia was born October 31, 1875. Katerina was born in Romania, Europe. Her childhood was living in small house with 5 btothers, and sisters. She always made friends well, and tried to impress people. Her family was no where near being rich, but Katerina still made her childhood like any other one. when Katerina turned 27 she knew she wanted to leave for America to gain a healthy living. Her brothers and sisters all went their seperate ways, Katerina's parents died when she was growing. -
Traveling to Ellis Island
Katerina Rossia is 27 years old and is traveling to America, but first going to Ellis island. Katerina is bringing 2 friends that also wanted to come along with her to Ellis Island. Katerina is expiriencing mant other immigrants going to this Island, it was a very crowded boat. After a couple of days on the boat we finally arrive in Ellis Island. Right away Quarantine officers would come aboard to check for diseases. But steerage class passengers were ferried to Ellis Island for inspection. -
Ellis Island
We had to wait onboard for 2 days before inspection, then after waiting we were transfered to Ellis Island. We waited for numerous hours without food or water. Being in Ellis Island was very overcrowded. My 2 friends and I waited for our turn for disembark for inspection. They inspected my health, acedemic ability, and legal inspection. Getting inspected felt like it took forever and all my time away, but then finally we were free to land, and ready to settle down. -
Settling in America
My 2 friends and I are traveling to ohio, to get settled there because my one friend has an aunt that lives out there. We plan on staying ith my friends aunt until we are ready to go move out on our own. We all choose to work in a clothing factory to earn money, i work in the factory for 12 whole hours in dangerous conditions. I was ready to start a new life and try to earn a good living. -
American Experience
i have been in America for a while now, i have experienced many things. My boss treats my co-workers and myself with very much disrespect. If we ever disrespected our boss back we could end up loosing our jobs and might not even get them back. i have come across typical Americans being racist to myself and other immigrants, i mean we are all humans. -
outcome of being in America
i have been in America for 10 years now, i am 37. I have my own house with my husband who was another immigrant that came through ellis island. we are now starting a family and im getting what i came for in America. We rarely ever experience racism that much, but we know its still everywhere. I beleive coming to America was a really good choice for me because i needed a lot of help back in Europe and no i dont need any,
