The Great Famine, or Patoto Famine begins in Ireland killing millions of locals due to starvation.

Hi. My name is Brian O'Callaghan. The potatoe famine devistated this country enough and now we have a typhus epidemic going around. Unfortuanantly, my family and my farm didn't make it through this trajety and I am now left with nothing in my home country.

As I had nothing left for me in Ireland, I left for America only with the clothes on my back. I was hoping to find land and a fresh start as I'm sure many others were.
-
We have finally made it to America! The Statue of Liberty signifies the beginnings of a new life. Though as I entered, the long lines were a little intimidating. When it was finally my turn, my interviewer was speaking another lanuage. I couldn't understand him so I had to guess what he was saying but I made it through.
-
I eventually managed the money for a horse once we reached our destination. That meant I could finally take place in a race for the land. After about an hour of searching, I finally found it, a fertile peice of land perfect for a new life. Crops grew well and I had a cozy house. Life for once was perfect.

Life in the city turned out harder than I imagined. I was homeless for many months until I managed to gather enough money to board a train to the west. On the way there, I noticed all of the dead buffalo scattered across the open plains. It was a very pleseant sight. There bullet holes everywhere, guts were scattered near the buffalo and thing of that nature. Shortly after, the Natives were attacking the train. The people on board were luckily armed and they slaughtered them until they retreated

I'm sure the Natives aren't this bad always but it seems they really don't like us occupying what used be their land. They came to my land in the middle of the night and burned everything down. I barely managed to get out alive. It seems I have to start all over again.

All is quite. Sometimes I sit outside at night and just observe the peace. The field quickly recovered and I had to replant everything but it is done now. The house took a while to rebuild but now, all is well, and I hope it stays that way.
