    The Ms st Louis was carrying over 900 Jewish refugees fleeing the third reich. They wanted to go to Cuba and The US but got rejected and wanted to go to Canada instead. Canada denied them and they had to go back to Europe. Around 250 of them would die in the holocaust.

    11 years after WW2 ended there was a revolution building in Hungry. A war within the country broke out. There were heavy casualties and over 3000 civilians were killed. So, people ran and tried to immigrate into other countries but no one would accept these refugees because Hungry was allied with Nazi Germany in WW2 and had fears that they might disturb the peace in there countries. Canada, accepted these refugees. In a few months Canada had gotten over 37,000 Hungarian Refugees.(TheStar.com)

    The new communist government took control of Vietnam in 1975. They would threaten any anti-communist subject still in southern Vietnam with execution or severe punishment (Association for diplomatic studies and training, paragraph 2). This would force the anti-communists to evacuate Vietnam in search of safer living conditions. These actions led to the refugee crisis of the Vietnamese boat people (Radio Canada International, paragraph 1).

    Due to the Al Assad dictators refusing to step down in the Arab Spring rebellion, a civil war started in Syria began where different ethnic groups began to fight each other in changing coalitions. The liberal government established a 678 million dollar plan for refugee resettlement in Canada (Nov 2015). As of January 29, 2017, Canada has accepted 40 081 Syrian refugees.
