Starting the Job of Building Skyscrapers
A couple days after being in America I choose to the job of building skyscrapers. I picked that job because I was very good at building things with steel. The job was very unsafe and I could die any day on the job. I was very careful whenever I worked and I did a good job. I made an average pay but I made less than Americans because I was Irish. I was okay with that because I was just happy to have a job.

    Coming to America
I arrived in America on May 11th, 1855. I got to America by going by boat across the Atlantic Ocean. The boat was so crowded and dirty. Many immigrants died on the boat or got severly sick. When I got to America, I was at Ellis Island in New York City. There so many Irish Immigrants there as well. The Americans had to do a physical examination on me and I had no health problems. I was now in America.

    Lost My Job
I lost my job of being a skyscarper builder. I lost it because I was not working well and because I was Irish. I expirenceed major discrimation and racsim because of my relilgon, beliefs, and my race. I had a small place to stay and around 5 or 6 Irish people lived with me. Most of us were unemployed so we were very, very poor. We could not figure out why so many people were making so little money.
