    The Theft

    The Theft
On this unfortunate day, some unknown person has seemingly stolen my identity. They are performing actions I would not normally perform with my bank account, among other things. I first noticed the issue by using one of the methods the text describes. These methods include looking for large and mysterious withdrawals from my bank, strange bills, and strange accounts on my credit report, (Unit 2, 5).

    Seeking Help

After this unfortunate event, I would immediately cancel my compromised credit cards. Next, it would be wise of me to seek help from the National Association of Consumer Advocates, or NACA. The NACA is described by the text as a group of attorneys who work to protect and represent consumers, (Unit 2, 6). In the event of identity theft, an NACA attorney could help me prove to my bank and credit companies that I am not making the terrible financial decisions that it may appear I am making.

    Changes in the Future

To prevent my identity from being stolen again, I would be much more careful with the information I give out, and check my credit reports more often. The text explains that names, addresses, bank account numbers, and social security numbers are all things that can put my identity in the hands of someone untrustworthy. In the future I would not let any of the information go to some unknown person on the web, or telephone, and I would ensure only trustworthy people have access to that information.

    Reality

    Reality
In reality, the closest I have ever come to identity theft is someone pretending to be me in Minecraft, chances are I even knew who it was. I am usually extra careful not to tell anyone I don't know anything about me, and I think that is something that may save me a lot of stress in the future by protecting me from identity theft.
