    Assisted with initiating a process in which students with disabilities are being provided with the fair and proper procedures within the school setting. This eventually led to the creation of EAHCA.

    Children with mental disabilities would be provided with free public education and in addition would encourage necessary changes within the civil rights of children with disabilities.

    Outlawed handicapped based discrimination in any program that received financial assistance from federal government.
  • Public Law 99-457

    Public Law 99-457
    This amendment entitled states to provide families with children with disabilities to begin receiving services at birth rather than age 3 in order to have earlier intervention.

    Traumatic brain injury and Autism were aded on as disabilities, as well s adding transition plans into secondary services in children's IEP'S.
  • IDEA Amendment

    IDEA became effective in which it would allow children with disabilities to be educated within the same curriculum as other students as well as increase the age of assistance to developmentaly delayed children up to the age of 9.
