    International Schools Examination Syndicate is formed
    In 1962 a group of social studies teachers attended the International Schools Association conference in Geneva. Through the work in the conference, the ISES was formed. This later became the International Baccalaureate.

    Founded in Geneva, Switzerland, their first program was the Diploma Programme. The DP was designed to give a education to the children of international diplomats which could be found standard from area to area. The programme was accepted for its excellence and it's commitment to its mission statement and learner profiles.

    IB comes to the U.S.A.
    The first IB programme to be authorized in the US was the United Nationals International School, a private school in New York City.

    New York State establishes IB Diploma Programme as Alternative to Regents
    New York State has long had high school graduation requirements centered around students passing five specific State Regents examinations. Now students enrolled in the DP will no longer be required to take the Regents program in addition to their IB assessments.

    In a collaborative CAS project, students from major US cities work to solve the homeless crisis. The result -- homelessness in participating cities cut 95% and a workable model is developed for cities across the nation.

    IB, which is recognized and has participating schools in every country in the world, sponsors a United Nations style conference where representative delegations from every country meet to advance causes such as equity in education, censorship, and diplomatic concerns.
