Dorian Strengthens to Category 4 Storm
The national hurricane center announced that the storm has upgraded to a category 4 on August 30th. As it's making its way up to Florida, calling it "extremely dangerous" with maximum winds near 130 mph. -
Dorian Forms
National hurricane center issued first advisory about Dorian, but then called a tropical depression on August, 24th. Formed off the Lesser Antilles, and had sustained winds of 35 mph. Hours later it strengthened to a tropical storm. -

The tropical storm became a hurricane near the U.S. Virgin Island of St. Thomas on August, 28th. The hurricane struck the island as a Category 1 storm. -
Trump and Puerto Rico Mayor
Hurricane Dorian just barely missed Puerto Rico. Which is still recovering from Hurricane Maria in 2017. Trump started controversy when the hurricane appeared to be hitting Puerto Rico, he criticized the may of San Juan. In a tweet, he said "officials were tracking the storm and that it was heading for the island, as usual." He then added that emergency services were ready. -

Dorian Shifts Towards Carolinas
On August, 31st the National Hurricane center noticed that Dorian shifted its path, now going towards the Carolinas. Setting its sights on Georgia and North and South Carolina. Sparing Florida from the hurt of the storm. -
Dorian Hits the Bahamas
The Bahamas was struck by the storm on September 1st. The storm made landfall as a category 5 hurricane, which was the strongest in more than 80 years. It sustained winds as high as 185 mph. 43 people have been found dead in the Bahamas. -
Trump Claims Alabama could be hit "hard"
Trump tweeted that Alabama was a potential target of the hurricane. Shortly after the National Weather Service's office in Birmingham, Alabama tweeted that the state would not be impacted, in response to Trump's Tweet. -

US Sends Aid to the Bahamas
Trump and the U.S Agency for International Development announced that the U.S would send aid to help the Bahamas. President Trump tweeted that the U.S was sending "crews" to help the Bahamas. -
Trump's Map to Show Alabama
President Trump displayed a map of Dorian's path that showed the storm's path extended with black marker to include Alabama. It was an edited map, but he reported later that he did not know that the map had been edited. -

Hurricane Dorian was a long lasting hurricane, which tied Hurricane Irma with the longest lasting. -
Dorian Hits North Carolina
Dorian makes landfall at North Carolina's Outer Banks. It was at a category 1 with sustained winds near 90 mph. Hundreds of people were trapped on Ocracoke Island. -
Death Toll Rising in Bahamas
The death toll from hurricane Dorian in the Bahamas is now at least 50. Many still missing. Families are mourning as they try to find their loved ones.
