King John I had economic problems and decided to ask for taxes. The people didn't like this so they forced the king to sign the Magna Carta. -

A parliament where free trials started. No one wants to be locked up or imprisoned without a trial. -

The start of human rights. The Bill of Rights gave rights to people by participating in the parliament decisions. -
US Declaration of Independence
This was the document that gave the United States of America independence from Great Britain. Some important names are Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin. -
Declaration of Rights of Men and Citizens
A document written by the National Assembly of France stating more rights for men. Equality, natural rights, freedom and social contract were some of these rights. It was influenced in Thomas Jefferson and the Enlightenment ideas. Some main authors were General Marques de La Fayette and Honoré Mirabeau. -
Slavery Abolition in the US
When Abraham Lincoln defeated Jefferson Davis. Emancipation Proclamation was applied giving slaves the right to freedom. -
The Holocaust
During WWII, Adolf Hitler killed around 6 million Jews in this genocide. Around two thirds of the Jew population was murdered. -
Universal Declaration of Human Rights
A document made by the General Assembly of the UN (created in 1945) establishing 30 articles that state rights entitled to humans. It was proclaimed in Paris.
