    The main reasons for the trip were trade ( merchants) and religion ( pilgrims).

    The Grand Tour

    In the 18th century the Grand Tour was only for the wealthy nobles and then became fashionable even for the young women of the upper middle class. It allowed to cross all of Europe. young people learned to know and Italy has become one of the most popular places to visit

    In the early 1800s the romantic movement created interest in nature and the mountain landscape (English Lake District, the Scottish Highlands and the Swiss Alps). After 1850 the industrial revolution led to the development of economic and rapid travel. At the end of the century, new forms of luxury travel developed.

    Thomas Cook, the first tour operator

    First organized tour= In July 1841 Thomas Cook convinced the Midland counties railway company to operate a special train for a religious meeting reduced price of one shilling per person.In 1845 Cook began touring as an activity.In 1867 he organized the first tour in the United States and then the first tour of the world;he also opened offices in many cities to provide independent travelers train and ship tickets.It also invented the Circular Note to facilitate the payment of services worldwide
