The issues on slavery are the main reason for the Missouri Crisis. The number of free to slaves state were at an even number and the north wanted to stop slavery don’t want it to spread any further to stop that they make a line where anything south had the rights to slaves, well in the north the opposite in hope to slowly abolish slavery. -

Election of 1844
The election of 1844 had 2 main points and that was the annexation of Texas and the state of Oregon. The election came down to the state of new York if New York went the other way it would have been the other way. The democratic James j Polk won the close races that would help not spread slavery but also still give the rights to the people. -
Texas annexation
Texas becoming part of the U.S brought us many issues to Congress about if it should be a slave or free state. The north and south argue about this over time and eventually the Texas state would be a slave state. -
The war with Mexico
War against Mexico would help break the north and south. The south hungry for land and more states for slavery wanted to take over Mexico and the people of the north saw it as cruel and unjust war. -
Election of 1848
Like the previous election this one came down to a close race in New York. The issues of slavery was again on the table and the north didn’t want it to spread any further. The close race came down to general Zachary Taylor who won the major closely due to Lewis losing new york -
California issue of slavery
The statehood of California brought many issues to the government about the free or slave state . This issues would make it hard on the union. The south and north fought over the free of slave state until they came up with popularly sovereignty. -
Resistance to the fugitive slave act
Northerners were not following the fugitive slave act and this caused the north to uproar with anger. Even with bloodshed on slave capturer drew the line but the people helping aid the slaves were free to go with no charges which brought anger to the southerners. -
Kansas- Nebraska act
The Kansas Nebraska acts brought another issues on slavery but the south was upset by this because Kansas was unsuitable for farming and being a state for slavery would be useless. The right of popularly sovereignty became the main idea for these state which would end up with the north getting Kansas upsetting the south -
Dred Scott case
The Dred Scott case was about a slave who was living in a free state and was above the Missouri compromise but the court ruled in the favor of the south Because the Missouri compromise was unconstitutional they said. -
The election of 1860
The election of 1860 would be the point of no return after Abraham Lincoln won president it cause the south to be anger and first the state of South Carolina would leave due to there emenies (Lincoln) has took hold of the government
