How I Came To Be

  • Brandon Man

My friend from kindergarten, he is a really smart and chill guy who has many similar traits to me
  • Period: to

    Kindergarten

Met and got to know the first bunch of people excluding my family
  • Met my friend Kyle

Kyle was my friend from kindergarten that will be in some of the biggest moments of my life later on
  • Period: to

    DBS Primary School

Not the best years of my life as i got into a lot of arguments and fights, but was a pivotal point in my life that defined my personality and how I would treat myself and others.
  • Met Wesley Tse

he's like the peanut butter to my jelly. I like laughing, he makes people laugh. Can't go wrong with that combo
  • Got into my first fight with Marco Woo

Argued over something minor, got into a fight, taught me to not care that much about small things
  • Promoted to the A team of the DBS table tennis school team

My coach, Mr.Chan, vouched for me to be in the A team of the table tennis team, and i was one of the youngest members of the squad.
  • Won my first Kowloon East Championship/Title for table tennis

My years of training of table tennis finally paid off, and i won my first big competition in division one
  • Won My First Table Tennis Hong Kong Championship

i played Kyle's school in the finals, where me and my school (DBS) scraped over a 3-2 win to win the title for my school in division one
  • Hong Kong under 18 Team tryouts

After the HK championship that I won, the HK team decided to give me a tryout into their team, and although i didn't make the final cut of 5 people, i got into the final round of 10 people out of 100 candidates
  • appointed co-captain of the DBS Table Tennis A team by Mr.Mok

i was forth in command for the DBS table tennis A team, and that was a very bright moment in my life, something i am still proud of.
  • Love hate relationship with the St.Paul's Team

I didn't like St.Paul as they were our opponents, but the members of their team were all my friends as i trained with them. (Shout out to Kyle, Chun Nam and Michael)
  • Won my second Kowloon East Championship

this was my last year in DBS primary, and i won my second and last kowloon east championship
  • Marco Woo

Although I fought with him in Primary, when we reached secondary we became close friends as we both grew from the experience. This lead to me to not hold grudges, and even if someone make me pissed off I wouldn't care that much after the incident has passed.
  • Lost to my friend Kyle in the Hong Kong Table Tennis Finals

i lead dbs to a second place finish in the division one conference, losing 3-2 to my friend Kyle's team (St.Paul)
  • Injuries

I injured my right arm while training, damaging multiple nerves.
I was also very injury prone, and i had consistent ankle and back injuries.
  • Doctor's Advice

The doctor said that it would take a long time for me to heal, and that even though i would make a full recovery, he said that like my ankle, once i've injured my elbow, it would get easier and easier to get injured again, each injury more severe then the last. Taking all things into consideration, I decided to quit table tennis for the sake of my body.
  • My Relationship With God

my relationship with god deteriorated and faded really quickly after my injuries, as i questioned god why he had to take one of the things that i was really proud to do away from me because of injuries. I wanted to know why he had to do that to me, but he never answered.
  • Period: to

    DBS Secondary School

These are the happiest and most fun years of my life by far.
  • Class 8A, 9A and 10M

My best mates that i still keep close contact with (Eson, Michael, Wesley Tse, Marco, Lochlan, Aidan, Duncan, Paco, Levi, Edwin) all came from those classes.
  • The DBS Brotherhood

In DBS, i learnt something that i will carry for the rest of my life- brotherhood. In DBS secondary, nobody snitches on each other. We solve our problems by ourselves by all means except for telling the teachers. This made our trust and bond strong, and it taught me be able to talk to and trust the people around you, because the true friends of yours will always support you and never rat you out.
  • Personality shifts

In Primary, i was extremely introverted and would not talk or respond to people. I was also extremely annoying, which made me an oddball(also got me into a lot of arguments as i was the "odd" one), but as i grew older, i found that reflecting on myself every night would improve me as a person, and with that i corrected many flaws in my personality and also decided to go out more, which turned me into an extremely confident speaker and an extrovert socially.
  • Lochlan Chan

Soccer HK team, he might seem really intimidating, but once you get to know him, he is one of the kindest people I've met
  • Edwin Chan

In Primary, me and Edwin hated each other. We both routinely tried to annoy each other and tried to get the opposite person into trouble as much as possible. But when we both grew older, we decided to put the past behind us and now he is one of my closest friends that supports me wherever and whatever i do
  • Eson Ng

my baller bro, we always play street bball together
  • Michael Mok

We both didn't like each other in Primary, but being in the same class as him for 3 years in secondary changed all that hate into love, and now we are really close. He is also a part of the HK swimming team, and has basically identical personalities as I do.
  • Bagel

I finally had a pet dog, something that i have been wanting for all my life. He is an energetic brown fluffball, and has given my family tons and tons of joy.
  • leaving DBS and joining ICS

Although i really didn't want to leave, I knew that the Chinese curriculum of local schools would destroy me, so I changed over to ICS.
  • People that made my transition to ICS easier

in addition to keeping in touch with people from DBS, people like Cyrus, Natte, Ian and Glenn made the process of changing to ICS a lot smoother
