How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

  • Prezi and Polyvore

    PolyvorePrezi
When I determined the target audience I created an audience profile using the online presentation software, Prezi. This was my first time using this website therefore it looked very basic, however it still displayed the information in a creative way. I then used the webstite Polyvore to design outfits which would suit my target audience. I think this worked well.
  • Survey Monkey

    Survey Monkey
I used Survey Monkey to create an online questionnaire for my audience. This was more effecient than printing many copies of the questionnaire and handing it out. Morever using an online website meant that it was able to reach an unlimited audience. The website also creates bar charts to easily display the results. The only negative was that I could only ask up to 10 questions.
  • Windows Movie Maker

I used Windows Movie Maker to display and analyse the results of the questionnaire. I added in soundtrack to make it sound more interesting. This software was quite easy to use, however the effects are very basic.
  • Powerpoint and Slideshare

    Slideshare
I created a Powerpoint to analyse conventions of music videos. Microsoft Powerpoint is a software I'm familar with therefore I did not find it difficult to use. I included screen shots from different Youtube videos. I then uploaded my Powerpoint to Slideshare so that I could embed it on my blog.
  • Recording a focus group

I filmed a focus group by using a camcorder and a tripod. I also used a voice recorder so that the sound would be heard more clearly. However when I went to edit the sound with the footage on iMovie, the audio appeared to be out of sync, as if one of them had recorded at a different pace, Therefore I decided not to use the recorded audio and instead used the iMovie settings to enhance the volume from the camcorder recording by increasing the volume and lowering the background noise.
  • Padlet

    Padlet
I used Padlet in order to gain a response from the audience about what they liked and disliked about my draft treatment. I liked using this website as I was able to customise the appearance to suit my theme. Furthermore the audience could quite easily add in short comments.
  • Polyvore

    Polyvore
When planning for my music video, I use Polyvore again to design the costumes that the main character would be wearing. I further developed my skills by adding text and using a range of fonts. I also used coloured squares to divide the page to clearly display each of the different costumes.
  • Flipsnack

FlipsnackI drew out my storyboard by hand and then took pictures of each page using the camera on my phone. I sent the pictures via email so that I could access on the computer. It probably would have been quicker to use a USB cable. I then uploaded them to Flipsnack. This made the storyboard look like actual pages in a book. This website was slightly difficult to use as it did not allow editing of images, which was a problem for me because initially my pictures were all landscape instead of portrait.
  • PicMonkey

    PicMonkey
I used PicMonkey to create a collage of all the images I took for the digipak. It took a while to add in all the images and use the right proportions so that they all looked square. Other than that it was fairly simple to use.
  • Photoshop and Imgur

    Photoshop and Imgur
I used Photoshop to edit the pictures for the digipak. I used different layers to create a pink tone. I also used the clone tool and the paintbrush to remove any blemishes. I found it quite easy to use, however it was very time consuming to create a perfect outcome. I used the website Imgur to create a slideshow of the different editing techniques I used on the pictures. However the file size was too big therefore I had to go back on Photoshop, change the settings, then re-upload them.
  • Final Cut Pro

I used Final Cut Pro to edit my music video. This software was fairly new to me therefore it took a while to figure things out. The biggest issue I had was editing the green screen scenes as some of them created black patches or shadows. This meant that I had to either decrease the intensity of the filter, or crop or trim the footage.
  • Windows Movie Maker and Youtube

VideoFor the first evaluation question, I created a video on Windows Movie Maker. To compare conventions in my music video with those of real products, I included clips from my video and also downloaded videos from Youtube.
  • Prezi

I used Prezi for the second question in the evaluation. This was fairly simple to use, however I found it difficult to find an appropriate template for what I wanted to convey.
  • Bubbl.us

I used bubbl.us to create a mindmap in response to the third evaluation question. This was quite easy to use, although the effects were very basic for the free version. I would have liked to been able to add in images or change the font scheme.
  • Timetoast

Creating a timeline on this website has been quite simple to use and it easily displays all the points I want to give. The downsides are that there is a word count limit, and I can't embed videos the same way I can display pictures.
