Hitler speaks to a crowd of more then 6,000 people. He is quickly becoming one of the most efficient speakers in the world. -
The Bill
The victorious European Allies of World War I, France and Britain, present a bill to Germany to pay for the damages caused by the Germans. It went form 4 marks to equal one US dollar, but now it was 75 marks to make a US dollar. -
Gaining More Power
Hitler is named Fuhrer of the Nazi Party. -
Failed attempt at Beer Hall Putsch
Hitler made an attempt to use an armed army to overthrow the local authorities in Munich failed. Hitler was jailed and charged with high treason, but he used that to his advantage. He used the courtroom at his public trial to speak against the Weimar government. -
Mein Kampf
While Hitler was in jail he wrote one volume of his autobiography Mein Kampf, which means "My Struggle." The book spoke of many things like "might makes right," and it became important for the Nazis murderous beliefs. -
Election
A military hero by the name of Paul von Hindenburg was elected as president. -

The Nazi Party had only 27,000 in 1925. By 1929, that number reached over 108,000 -

The Great Depression
Uniinployment doubled, going from 3 million to 6 million by 1932. The Weimar democracy was unable to do anything against it. -
The Weimar Democracy's Demise
Paul von Hindenburg's advisers persudaded him to use emergency presidental powers; powers that let the president restore law and order in a crisis. Hindenburg created a new government. It had a chancellor and cabinet members. They rule by emergency decrees, not by laws that were passed by the Reichstag -
Elections Again
"Hindenburg's term as president was ending in the spring of 1932. At age 84, he was reluctant to run again, but knew that if he didn't, Hitler would win. Hindenburg won the election, but Hitler received 37% of the vote."

Parlament democracy ended with Reichstag's passing of the Enabling Act, which the government to pass laws without sending them to the Reichstag first. -
The Burning of the Books
Nazis began encouraging people to boycott books by Jewish authors, and buiseness and stores owned by Jews. The Jews began having their rights to civil service, medical, legal, and teaching possions removed. They (The Nazis) began burning books by Jews and other people they were against. -
Lebensraum
Hitler began searching for ways to get lebensraum, more living space. France, Britain, and Russia didn't want to go to war, but after Germany captured Austria and Czechoslovakia, Britain and France threatened Germany with war if they targeted Poland and/or Romania. -
The Night of the Broken Glass
Open antisemitism has inceased. One night, a riot broke out where people destroyed, beat, arrested, even killed Jews. About 100 Jews died, and as many as 30,000 were actually arrested. Within the next few days, all Jewish students were expelled from school. The Nazis even forced the Jews to pay for the damages caused on Kristallnacht. -
World War II
Germany invaded Poland in September, 1939. France and Britain had no choice but to go to war with Germany. World War II officially began. -
Blitzkrieg Bop?
Germany's assult on Poland consisted of constant use of Blitzkrieg, lightning war, where Germans flew in using fighter planes; air assult. Before Britain and France could come to arms, Poland fell to Germany. -
New Order
"Germany's military conquest put it in a position to establish the New Order, a plan to abuse and eliminate so-called undesirables, notably Jews and Slavs."

ID: Star of David
General Governor Hans Frank ordered that Jews tens old or older living in the "General Government" to wear the Star of David on their arms, chest, or back. This made it easier for the Nazis to identify the Jews when the ghettos were formed.
