    Presented as an act of revenge for bad press against Germany when Adolf Hitler was appointed Chancellor. Nazis were claiming there were "foreign" Jews who were spreading lies to hurt Germany. Jewish businesses were discriminated against and threatened by Nazis but many Germans continued to shop at their stores, and only lasted one day.

    SA Chief of Staff Ernst Röhm and his top commanders are murdered by the SS, ordered by Adolf Hitler. He also orders the former Chancellor of Germany; General Kurt von Schleicher to be killed. All of these slaughters are considered legal, based on a false accusation made by Hitler himself.

    Homosexual men, or any man who seemed to be close with another, were now punished even worse than before if they were caught. Homosexuals were killed and arrested by Nazis, to "purify" Germany. Gay men were subjected to torture in camps, including castration. They were said to be no help to society and were weak.

    Opened by SS Generals, Buchenwald was a concentration camp for male (and later female)prisoners in east-central Germany. Prisoners were often shot and hanged daily by SS soldiers. Although it was originally a jail for political prisoners, eventually about 10,000 Jews were sent to Buchenwald for cruel punishment, most times resulting in death.

    All Jewish people who had non-Jewish names would have to add "Sara" or "Isreal" to the end of their name. They had to bring identity cards with them at all times, and their passports would be stamped with a red-letter J. Nazis used tactics like these to make sure the Jewish people were separated from the Germans at all times.

    Established by SS, Auschwitz was the largest camp complex from the Nazi Regime. It included 3 camps, all made for continuous labor, and one was specifically for killing Jews. It sat on land that was annexed by the Nazis in 1939.

    It was declared in areas such as western Poland every child over the age of six was required to wear a yellow Star of David badge with "Jew" sewn into it in public. Either German or another language was used so everyone would know what it meant. It was used by Nazis to humiliate the Jewish people and to make them feel like outsiders in their community and segregate them.

    If a Jew or the person hiding them were caught, serious punishment followed shortly after. Death was this punishment. Aiding them such as giving them valuables, transporting them, or feeding them also was a violation.

    Hitler commits suicide by a gunshot to his head and swallowing a cyanide pill. He was in Berlin, in a bunker under his headquarters. Germany soon after surrendered.

    Over 700 children arrived in England after the Holocaust. They were provided shelter, food, and safety by relief workers. One of the workers was named Alice Goldberger, who held a child's home for them, to help them recover, until the late 1950s.
