St. Louis
St. Louis sets sail from Germany to Cuba with over 900 passengers fleeing from Germany. The U.S and Cuba then denied entry, forcing the St. Louis to return to Europe. Refugees would later be killed in the Holocaust. -
Warsaw Ghetto
Jews were put into ghettos, eclosed areas to control and segregate the Jewish population. The Warsaw ghetto was one of the largest and most populated. In November, it was sealed, confining more than 300,000 Jews. -
Concentration Camps
Jews were transported on trains and taken to killing centers. Nazis would kill the majority of Jews in gas chambers. Auschwitz, established in 1940, was one of the largest camps.
