    Nazis 'temporary restrict' civitl liberties for all citizens- never to be restored. March-
    First concentration camp set up un Dachau. First 299 inmates were communists. May-
    Trade Unions are closed.

    September-
    The Gernan government enacts the Nuremburg Laws- codifying the 'racial' definition of Jews, depriving them of citizenship and fundamental rights. The Nazis intensify perscution of political dissendents and other considered "inferior" including Romanies ("Gypsies"), Jehovah's Witnesses, and homosexuals. Many sent to concentration camps.

    Nazis boycott jewish owned buisnesses. Olympic games help in Germany, signs barring jews are removed until the event is over. Jews no longer have the right to vote.

    1938

    German tropps annexed Austria. On Kristallnatcht, the ' Night of Broken Glass,' Nazis terrorized -Jews throuhgout Germany and Austria- 30,00 Jews are arrested. Jews must carry ID cards and Jewish passports are marked with a 'J'. Jews no longer head buisnesses, attend plays, concerts, etc. All Jewish children are moved to Jewish schools. Jewsih buisnesses are shut down; they must sell businesses and hand over securities and jewels.
    Jews must hand over drivers licenses and car registrations.

    Jews must wear yellow stars of David. September-
    Germany invades Poland.
    World War II begins.
    Nazis order Polish Jews into restricted ghettos and force them into slave labor. October-
    Hitler orders the so-called "Euthenasia" program leading to the systematic murder of the mentally and physically disabled in Germany and Austris.

    February- Nazis begin deporting German Jews to Poland.

    Jews are forced into ghettos December- Nazis begin the first mass murder of Jews at Treblinka. Jews are put into concentration camps.

    Jews throughout Western Europe are forced into ghettos.
    Jews may not leave their houses without permission from police.
    Jews may no longer use public telephones. June- Germany attack the Society Union. September- In two days, mobile killing units shit 33,771 Ukranian Jews at Babi Yar- the largest single massacure of the Holocaust. December- The death camp at Chelmo begins operation.

    Jews are forbidden to: suscribe to newspapers; keep dogs, cats, birds, etc.; keep electrical equipment including typerwriters; own bicycles; buy meat, eggs, or mild; use public tranportation; attend school. January- Wannsee Conference- The Nazis coordinate the "final solution"- a plan to kill all European Jews throughout mass exterminations. Six death camps equipped with gas chambers soon begin full scale operation in Poland. *During peak operations thousands of people a day are murdered.

    February- About 80 to 85 percent of the Jews who would die in the Holocaust have already been murdered.

    1944

    Hitler takes over Hungary and begins deporting 12,000 Hungarian Jews each day to Auschwitz where they are murdered.

    1945- End of the Holocaust

    May- U.S. and Allied forces defeat the Nazis and liberate the remaining concentration camp survivors. Hitler is defeated and World War II ends in Europe.
