    Apparently due to the motto "liberty, equality and fraternity" he was motivated to go to France; however, prevailing colonial law did not allow native Vietnamese to leave the country. However, the only way to move to Europe at the time was to take a job on a ship, so he traveled first to London and then to Paris.

    From 1919 to 1923, Ho became interested in politics while living in France, influenced by his friend and member of the French Socialist Party, Marcel Cachin. In Paris he joined the Groupe des Patriotes Annamites (The Group of Vietnamese Patriots). He slowly added the doctrine of Marxism to his political thinking: he joined the Socialist Party and later the Communist Party. He also attended the founding congress of the latter party in the last month of 1920.

    He later traveled to Moscow in 1923, where he participated in various congresses of the Ecumenical Communist. He later moved to China as an interpreter and assistant to Mikhail Gruzenberg Borodin, an adviser to the Kuomintang in its collaboration with the Communist Party of China.

    Ho Chi Minh died on the morning of September 2, 1969 at his home in Hanoi due to cardiac arrest at the age of 79 due to tuberculosis. Ho Chi Minh's tomb is located in Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi, the country's largest city. Ho died before the end of the war with the Americans, so he could not see a united communist Vietnam.
