Hitler's Younger Years
He would often begin something feeling motivated and interested, only to later loose interest. He often flew into rage if somebody contradicted him and was also not allowed into the Vienne Academy for Fine Arts which upset him. When he was 21, he started taking an interest in politics. After witnessing a large protest march by workers, he immersed himself in a study of the politics of the Social Democrats. Hitler admired Lueger for his use of propaganda to persuade people to believe in things. -
Germany Defeats in War
Hitler believed in the "stab in the back" theory. He couldn't stand to loose, or have things go any way than his own. The German Army chose this belief and fought believing that, sparking this inside Hitler. He balmed the Jews in Germany for undermining the war effort. When the Treaty of Versailles was signed in 1919, it had a humiliating effect on Germans and wanted to rebirth their country through a nationalist government. He was given the job of lecturing German prisioners on the cons of war. -
Hitler Joins German Worker's Party
Hitler was ordered to investigate a party of about 25 men who were known as the German Worker's. He listened to a speech on economics about eliminating capitalism, but then a man spoke in favour of the German state of Bavaria breaking away from Germany and forming a new South German nation with Austria. Hitler was angry and spoke for 15 miinutes against the man. The leaders of the group were impressed and Hitler joined the party. -
Nazi Party is Formed
Hitler spoke at monthy meetings for 30 minutes and got positive feedback from his audience. He blamed the Jews for causing all of Germany's problems, delivered anti-Semitic speeches and disagreed with the Treaty of Versailles. He was put in charge of the party propaganda and inviting people to the meetings. Hitler urged the party to have a mass meeting, and over two thousand people were waiting to hear him talk about his 25 points of his ideas. By 1921, the party had over 2000 members. -
Hitler Made Leader of Nazi Party
Hitler became popular and spoke in front of 6000 people. Groups of Party supporters spread the word about his ideas. He travelled to Berlin to visit nationalist groups during the summer of 1921 to spread his cause, The other leaders of the party felt like he was being overbearing, so they formed an alliance with a group of socialists from Augsburg. Hitler resigned from the group, but was offered his position back, but agreed only to take it if chairman and given dictorial powers, which he did. -
Hitler Makes Comeback
After being in prison for nine months, Hitler had a new idea on how to take over the government and Germany for himself and the Nazis. He would get elected. On Feb. 27, he reclaimed his position as absolute leader of the Nazi Party and patched up some of the ongoing feuds during his 2-hour speech. Groups for young people were formed to help them understand and carry out Hitler's plans. People were re-introduced to Hitler and he had more plans for Germany than ever before. -
Hitler's Book
Hitler, while being in jail from 1923-24, wrote a book, "Mein Kampf" about his early days in the Nazi party, and about future plans for Germany. Hitler describes the struggle for world domination as an ongoing racial, cultural, and political battle between Aryans and Jews. He expressed his feelings toward the different races in the world, and even came up with his idea of a perfect human. Germans Elect Nazis
Hitler traveled the country delivering dozens of major speeches, attending meetings, shaking hands, signing autographs and posing for pictures. In his speeches, Hitler gave the German people words of encouragement and hope. He made the audience feel emotional and connected through his hand gestures and tone of voice. He offered something to everyone, such as work to the unemployed, prosperity to failed business people or expansion to the army. The Nazis won the election and could start to act. -
Hitler has Success
The Nazis were now the second largest political party in Germany. German industrialists were donating money for salaried Nazis and fuel Hitler's propaganda. People were excited for Hitler's plans of destroying the Treaty of Versailles, which limited their army to 100,000. More and more people were agreeing with Hitler's plans and were hopping onto the bandwagon of believing everything that he said in his speeches. -
Hitler Runs for President
In October of 1931, Hitler decided to run for president. The constant fighting and disagreeing of the different political parties resulted in an ineffective government. Many people turned to Hitler to solve the problems, and to have a clear plan of what was to come for Germany. He plastered Nazi posters everywhere, gave thousands of speeches and rallies to raise his popularity. Hitler recieved over 11 million votes in the election, with his messages reaching more people than ever before.
