Stone Age
The Stone Age was divided into three separate periods - Paleolithic, Mesolithic, and Neolithic Period. They were split up into three periods because of the different tools they used. Hand axe, simple weapons, flint, fire. -

Bronze Age
This is when men learned how to mine copper and tin to make bronze weapons. Bronze is a combination of 10% tin and 90% copper.weavers and potters were needed to clothe the miners and craftsmen, and to provide pottery containers to the farmers to use to store food. -

Iron Age
1200 BC - 500 BC Coinage had been introduced, wheel thrown pottery was being made, there was an increased interest in personal appearance, people had started to live in larger and more settled communities -

Hellenistic Period
323 BC - 31 BC New wave of Greek colonization which established Greek cities and kingdoms in Asia and Africa. This resulted in the export of Greek culture and language to these new realms, spanning as far as modern-day India. -

Roman Era
There are three distinct time frames in the Roman Era, which ran from 753 B.C. to about A.D. 476. The first period is when Rome was founded. Their government had a senate and an assembly but no executive branch. No middle class, just rich and the poor. The second period, the Romans developed a constitution that outlined their legal rights. Only free male citizens were allowed to vote. The third period, under Augustus Caesar, Rome captured and controlled France, Spain, Greece, and Asia Minor. -

Byzantine Period
330 - 1453 Emperor Constantine I came to power as emperor in 306 CE. He made the Greek city of Byzantium the capital of the Eastern Roman Empire. The city was renamed to Constantinople. Constantine ruled as emperor for 30 years. Constantine embraced Christianity which would become a large part of the Roman Empire for the next 1000 years. -

Middle Ages
476 - 1350 The Middle Ages was defined by a Feudal system in much of Europe. This system consisted of kings, lords, knights, vassals, and peasants. The people who were part of the church played an important part too. When a person was born into a certain group, they rarely moved to another level.
During the Middle Ages, feudal society worked as the king granted vast lands called fiefs to noblemen and bishops. These landowners needed peasants to plant and harvest their lands.
