  • Beginning of the Civil War

    Beginning of the Civil War
The Civil War was a war fought between the United States, particularly the Union and the Confederacy. The Union fought to stay as a united whole, and the Confederacy fought to become independent and break away from the Union. It was America fighting against America, making it a Civil War, and it was very brutal. It had lasting effects on the U.S.
  • Gettysburg Address

    Gettysburg Address
On the site of one of the bloodiest battles of the Civil War, Gettysburg, a National Cemetery was being dedicated. The President, Abraham Lincoln, was invited to speak. This speech became one of the most memorable in history, hitting many important topics that needed to be spoken about involving the Civil War and the meaning and root of America.
  • Law of Octaves

    Law of Octaves
It was first introduced in 1864 by an English scientist, John Newland. This idea came to be because of the increasing amount of elements that were being discovered, it was a new way to classify and showed a relationship between the elements. Based off of this law, when elements are placed in increasing order of their atomic mass, every eighth element from another element are similar to that element in terms of their physical and chemical properties.
  • President Licoln Assassinated

    President Licoln Assassinated
After the end of the Civil War, Abraham Licoln was attending a play in Washington, D.C. at Ford's Theatre. John Wilkes Booth came up from behind and shot the president in the head, killing him. The assasination impacted the security of the government and the security of the United States as a whole.
  • Andrew Johnson Impeached

    Andrew Johnson Impeached
Andrew Johnson was in charge of carrying out the plan of reconstruction that Abraham Lincoln had left for the nation due to his assasination. The radical Republicans had many problems with this plan, and neither side was willing to compromise. The Republicans tried to find a way to impeach him, and finally did by proving that he didn't obey the Tenure of Office Act.
  • Mendeleev's Periodic Table

    Mendeleev's Periodic Table
The first periodic table was published in 1869 by a Russian chemist by the name of Dmitri Mendeleev. This table organizes elements from least to greatest according to their atomic weight. Also, it organized elements with similar chemical and physical properties according to columns.
  • U.S / World History - Beginning of the Spanish American War

U.S / World History - Beginning of the Spanish American War
The war originated from Cuba's struggle to become independant from Spain. Americans sympathized with the rebels and the U.S congress issued a resolution that deemed Cuba independent and demanded the withdrawl of the Spanish Army. In late April, Spain declared war on the United States, followed by the U.S declaring war on Spain.
  • Discovery of the Electron

    Discovery of the Electron
JJ Thomson, English physicist, is credited for being the one who discovered the electron. The electron was discovered in the year 1897. It showed that an atom can be broken down into even smaller parts, electrons.
  • Plum Pudding Model

    Plum Pudding Model
https://youtu.be/dehxVQAUqBsThis model was first introduced in 1904, by an English physicist by the name of JJ Thomson. This model can also be known as the Chocolate Chip Cookie or Blueberry Muffin Model. This invention was later on proven to be inaccurate. This model shows that there is a central atom made up of electrons that is surrounded by this cloud of positive charge that balances the two out.
  • U.S/ World History - Great San Francisco Earthquake:

U.S/ World History - Great San Francisco Earthquake:
On April 18th an earthquake close to 8.0 on the Richter Scale shoook San Francisco, California. Caused by a slip of the San Andreas Fault over 275 miles long, the earthquake killed thousands of people and immediately caused fire to catch, with no way to put them out due to the broken water mains. It took over 5 days to extinguish the fire and over 30,000 buildings were destroyed.
  • Rutherford’s Gold Foil Experiment

    Rutherford’s Gold Foil Experiment
Ernest Rutherford, a British physicist, introduced the idea of the Gold Foil experiment. The idea was to be able observe the effect of alpha particles on matter. However, it was conducted by Hans Geiger and Ernest Marsden in 1911.
  • Titanic Disaster

    Titanic Disaster
The Titanic was a British passenger liner that sailed in 1912. It was considered state of the art at its time, so it had many passengers on its trip from Southampton, UK, to New York City, US. However, the ship collided with an iceberg, and all of the passengers were forced to evacuate before the ship sunk, leaving many to die and few survivors.
  • Chemistry- Bohr's Planetary model of the Atom

Chemistry- Bohr's Planetary model of the Atom
Niels Bohr was working with Ernest Rutherford in Manchester England, at the time Rutherford had developed the planetary model of the atom. There were many problems with this model however so he created the Bohr model of the atom. It was made up of four principles that explained the stability of atoms as well as the emission spectrum of hydrogen. It was very successful but ended up only working for hydrogen.
  • Chemistry - Moseley/ Atomic Numbers

    Chemistry - Moseley/ Atomic Numbers
Henry Gwyn-Jefferies Moseley discoverd in Oxford that the atomic number gives the number of protons (positive charges) in the nucleus. He found that certain lines in the X-ray spectrum of each element moved the same amount each time the atomic number was increased by one.
  • World War 1

    World War 1
World War 1 was extremely important in US history. It was the war between the Central Powers, Germany, Austria-Hungary, and the Ottoman Empire, and the Allied Powers, Great Britain, France, Russia, Italy, Japan, and the United States. The war lasted 4 years, and the Allied Powers were victorious. It caused millions of deaths and will forever have a lasting impact on the world.
  • Discovery of the Proton

    Discovery of the Proton
Ernest Rutherford, a British physicist, is credited for the discovery of the proton. The proton was discovered in the year 1918. This was discovered because he realized that there was positively charged particles surrounding the nucleus and they became known as protons.
  • Chemistry- Schrodinger Equation

    Chemistry- Schrodinger Equation
Austrian physicist Erwin Schrodinger was the firs to write down a wave equation that explains the behavior of atomic particles. It is used to find the allowed energy levels of quantum mechanical systems, and the associated wace function gives the probability of finding the particle at a certain position.
  • Great Depression

    Great Depression
The stock market crashed in October of 1929. Spending and investment declined, causing extremely high unemployment rates and failed banks. This economic turmoil lasted until World War 2.
  • Discovery of the Neutron

    Discovery of the Neutron
James Chadwick, an English physicist, is credited with being the discoverer of the neutron. The neutron was discovered in the year 1932. He discovered that the center had contained a particle with no charge and he called this the neutron.
  • U.S / World HIstory - Beginning of the Second World War

U.S / World HIstory - Beginning of the Second World War
Adolf Hitler's invasion with the Nazi- Germany army into Poland was the official beginning of the second world war. This caused Britian and France and their empires to then declare war on Nazi Germany. The Soviet Union sided with Germany. From then on out the Holocaust emerges and other countries worldwide begin the take sides and become involved in the war.
