Marshall Plan
The Marshall Plan's purpose was to aid European countries economically. The thought was that if European countries were aided economically they would not become communist nations. -

The National Security Act was signed by Harry Truman. The purpose was to organize the United States military and foreign policy after World War II. -
Berlin Blockade
During the Berlin Blockade, the Soviet Union blocked the Allies' transportation into Berlin. Their aim was to exercise complete control over the city. This caused the response of the Berlin Airlift, where supplies were flown by the Allies into Berlin. -
NATO
NATO, which began in 1949, is an alliance of North Atlantic (North American and western European) countries. NATO was the rivalry of Soviet Union's Warsaw Pact. NATO, which still exists today, all countries agree to respond if any one country is attacked by an outside country. -

The NSC 68 was a secret report issued by the United States on April 14, 1950. The document shaped policy for how the United States would deal with the Cold War.
