The PRI Party is formed, in opposition to the democratic party. This socialist party, In which after many years in power, became known for electoral fraud and corruption. It was created to stop the violent power struggle stemming from the Mexican Revolution, but this goal was never achieved. -

Ernesto Zedillo Ponce De Leon wins the presidental election after his fellow candidate is murdered. As he comes into control, the stock market takes a crash, the Mexican dollar goes down by 33 percent. -
PRI Party Suffers big loss in power
Because of the economic crisis of 1994, when elections arose in1997 the PRI party lost all of its power in both chambers of the federal congress. -
Vincente Fox wins the Presidental Wins
Vincente Fox, head of the Party Alliance for Change wins the Election by just over 1%. The PRI party is officially out of power. -
Investigation launched into disappearance of 60's-70's activists
President Fox, appoints an investigator to look into the disapperance of activists in the 1960 through the 1970's. -
Security Files Released
Millions of secret security files are released which allowed the public to see how security fources tortured and killed hundreds of political activists from 1960 to the 1970's. President Fox said that government officials will go on to investigate these findings and bring justice to the country. -
Drop in Mexian Oil Production
Mexico's economy begins to suffer as its oil production decreases. This leads the government to pass a plan of investments to be made in Mexico's largest oil company knows as Pemex. -

The Murder rate in the Mexican city of Ciudad Juarez around the Us-Mexican Border,. The murder goes way up marking a all time high while rival drug cartels are in battle. -
