    Jamestown was the first permanent English settlement in Virginia founded in 1607. Jamestown was the capital of Virginia until 1699. Jamestown was sponsored by the Virginia company of London.

    In 1780, The American and French use a plan by Lafayette which makes their forces move up the peninsula and block the British Army. The French fleet defeat the British navy and blockaded the coast. Cornwallis is then trapped and Surrenders to George Washington at Yorktown.

    Constitution (Constitutional Convention)
    The Constitutional Convention was held in Philadelphia in the summer of 1787. The Founding Fathers decided to replace the Articles of Confederation with a new Constitution. James Madison was nicknamed "The Father of the Constitution". Some Founding Fathers were either not able to go or did not want to go. For Example Patrick Henry, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, and Thomas Paine.

    The Louisiana territory was bought by Thomas Jefferson for the US. Thomas Jefferson bought this land from France. The Louisiana Purchase double the size of the US. Thomas Jefferson Sent Lewis and Clark to explore the land that was bought. The Excursion lasted for over two years. They met Sacajawea who helped them communicate with Native Americans.

    What Caused this war was when jays treaty was ignored and British soldiers impressed US sailors and forced them to serve in the British navy. The effects of this war were America felt they had the right to exist, Andrew Jackson became a national hero, and the Federalist party died out.

    General McClellan attacked the divided Confederate Army at Antietam. This battle was the single most bloodiest day during the whole war. After the Battle was over President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation, Which freed all the slaves in the rebelling states

    The Progressive movement was a movement that wanted to Increase Economic Opportunity, Increase Democracy, and Increase Social Justice. Progressives wanted a Safer Work Place,The Government to respond to the people, and More Equality. What they didn't want were Monopolies, Corruption, And Child Labor.

    World War 1 Started when Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated in Bosnia. Archduke was traveling to Sarajevo with his wife when a Serbian Nationalist shot and killed both of them at point blank. This caused Austria-Hungary to declare war on Serbia with the help of Germany.

    Thousands of German Soldiers were killed or captured in a long months battle. This defeat stop the Germans from getting the soviet oil fields and turn the tables against Germany.

    Martin Luther King Jr was an African American who fought for civil rights for his fellow African Americans. He believed in nonviolent demonstrations. He thought that a peaceful overturning of segregation laws was possible. Martin Luther King Jr set the foundation for African American to fight for their rights. If it wasn't for MLK who fought for his fellow African American's right who knows when they would have gotten their rights. This is why today we have a holiday to celebrate MLK.

    The US wants to stop the spread of communism so they help South Vietnam fight North Vietnam. The US sends more troops but feels like its loosing the war. Congress then stops funding the war, Which leads to the US leaving the war and North Vietnam takes over South Vietnam

    Contemporary War (9/11) DEEP DIVE
    A Terrorist Group Call Al-Qaeda Hijacked 4 Airplane on September 11 of 2001. 2 of the airplanes hijacked crashed into the World Trade Center in New York City. 1 Hit the pentagon in Washington DC. The last plane was headed for Washington DC but passengers fought back and it crash in the rural of Pennsylvanian. This attack killed over 4,000 Americans. Because of this Terrorist Attack the US has upgraded Airport Security and the passed the patriot act to prevent future terrorist attacks.
