  • End of World War 1

    World War one ofiiically ended when the treaty of Versaillies was signed on June 28, 1919 but the figthing had really ceased seven months earlier when an armistice ot cease fire between the allied nation and germany on the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month for this reason Nov. 11, 1918 is generlly considerded as the end of the war to end all wars.
  • The first Armistance day

    Woodrow Wilson proclamied November 11 as the first commemoration of Armistance Day
  • Made an offically holiday

    On this day an act approved Made the 11th of November on each year a legal holiday as a day to set aside to honor vetrans of World War 1

    On June 1st 1954 November 11th became a day to remeber all U.S. Vetrans of war they had to change this because after World War 2 and the Koren War you just couldnt leave them out could you.

    This bill was intended to ensure a three day weekend for four nation holidays for fedral employes Washongton's Birthday, Memorial Day, Vetrans Day, and Columbus Day but these changed thier ates and people didn't like that

    Gerald R. Ford changed the date back because many people were confused on when to celebrate and then others were outraged because the event had great patriotic significatance to them

    Vetans day has always been celebrated on November 11th since Gerald Ford changed it back in September 20th 1975
