AT&T takes control
Not exact date In 1911 AT&T took control of the Western Union Telegaph Company. This was the start of the largest telephone company tell 1980. -
Britan makes own calls
Not exact date Now people in Britan could automaticaly exchange calls. People can now make teheir own calls whenever they want to do it. -
Boost in transmission
Not exact date A man named Lee De Frost put a patent on his new invention. His is was a vaccume tube that boosted transmission and made it possible to call ove a long distance. Now no one used a telegraph to say something over a long distance. -
The telephone line
Not exact date The Bell System created the first coast-to-coast telephone line. This line went from New York all the way to San Franisco. -
WWI
Not exact date Many volenteers and the army put a telephone line up that streched 400 miles. The enginers there built a two way air to ground radio equipment. This made it much easier to communicate during the war. -
Gvernment takes over
Not exact date The government took over the telephone comany because of its sucess. Vail worked hard and eventualy got the company back. -
Rotary-dial telephones
Not exact date The Bell System began installing a rotary-dial telephone. These telephones make it easier to call without using an operator.
