Use of the Clavichord
This was an instrument used primarily during the 16th-18th centurary.It is first known to appear in the early 1500's. By 1850 it's popularity was long gone. Bartolomeo Cristofori di Francesco is creditted for inventing the first modern day piano. Of course improvements have been made since the year 1700 when it is thought to have been well established. However, it did not gain populairty in the main concert hall until the late 1700''s thanks to composers such as Ludwig van Beethoven. -
American Made Piano
According to Orange Coast Piano, the first American-made piano was created by John Behrent in 1775 in Philadelphia. It was just before a boom period of piano production around the world, and American-made pianos played a major role in that growth well into the 1900s.
