Emperor Basil II military conquests of Bulgaria
Took the Bulgarian capital. In 1014 Basil was ready to launch a campaign to destroy Bulgarian resistance. Bulgaria fought on for four more years, but finally waved the white flag in 1018. -

In the morning of May 29, the Ottoman attack began with Christian mercenaries in the employ of the sultan. As the city's defenders spread themselves out to stem the Ottoman tide but ended up overwhelming the Byzantinw soldiers.
