Most of its population living in the Middle East regions wanted independence and it wasn't until the 19th century before they received help from the British and French to finally become independent countries under their own flag, national anthem and political system.

In the early 1900s, the Ottoman Empire had already lost control of Algeria, Tunisia, Libya and Egypt. Other Arab regions owned by the Ottoman Empire then created independence movements to create independent Arab states.
