    The Complex Number Calculator is Completed
    George Stibitz designed the CNC and it was completed in 1939, but was demonstrated/ revealed in 1940. It was revealed at an American Mathematical Conference held at Dartmouth College. He stunned everyone by performing mathematical equations remotely.

  • The Atanasoph-Berry Computer is Completed

    The Atanasoph-Berry Computer is Completed
    Professor John Vincent Atanasoff, who received funds to build a full scale machine after successfully demonstrating his prototype in 1949, finished building the computer this year. He built the computer with the help of his assistant Clifford E. Berry. When they finished, they had built the worlds first electrical computer.

    EDSAC Was Built
    The electronic delay storage automatic calculator was an early british computer which was a stored program computer, used mercury delay line memory. It was inspired by John von Neumann's seminal First Draft of a Report on the EDVAC. It was built by Maurice Wilkes and his team at the University of Cambridge Mathematical Laboratory in England.

  • ERA 1101 Introduced

    ERA 1101 Introduced
    It was one of the first commercially produced computers, the company´s first customer was the US Navy. The 1101 was designed by ERA but built by Remington-Rand and was intended for high-speed computing and stored 1 million bits on its magnetic drum, one of the earliest magnetic storage devices and a technology which ERA had done much to perfect in its own laboratories.

    USSR Launches Sputnik (*•̀ᴗ•́*)و ̑̑
    USSR launched Sputnik into space during the Space Race. Sputnik was the first satellite launched into orbit, so with it came a lot of new opportunities. The biggest and most impactful of those was the opening of a door to global communications.

    An IBM team led by John Backus developed fortran, a programming language that reads similarly to english using english like statements. Some programmers didn't think that FORTRAN would be as efficient as hand coding but they were proved wrong when FORTRAN proved it could generate efficient code. FORTRAN is still in use today.

    In 1958 William Higinbotham created what is thought to be the first video game. It was just a simple tennis game, and was a big hit at a Brookhaven National Laboratory open house.

    The first IBM personal computer is introduced.
    The first IBM personal computer, code-named “Acorn,” is introduced. It used Microsoft’s MS-DOS operating system and had an Intel chip, two floppy disks and an optional color monitor. Sears & Roebuck and Computerland sold the machines, marking the first time a computer is available through outside distributors. It also popularized the term pc.

    Google was established in 1998 by Larry Page and Sergy Brin. The process of establishing google began when Page enrolled in Stanford University 1995, and after going into the subject of the World Wide Web for his thesis. With the help of Brin he created google, originally named PageRank in Backrub, later changed to google.

    The bluetooth SIG was officially formed with five companies (Ericsson, Nokia, Intel, Toshiba, and IBM) in 1998 and version one of the technology was launched a year later. By 2005 version 2 was ratified, SIG welcomed its 4,000th member and shipments had reached 5 million per week.

    In 2007 David Karp created Tumblr, a short blogging platform. He created it because he "wanted something much more free-form, much less verbose.” He also felt that blogs today were way too complicated. It's been owned by yahoo! since 2013.
