    The Elementary and Secondary Education Act Amendments of 1965
    Large grants were given to state schools. These grants were mainly focused on the education of students with disabilities. This gave the students with disabilities the resources they needed to learn properly.
  • Congressional Investigation

    Congressional Investigation
    In the early 1970's the P.A.R.C and Mills cases were very famous and they were about the excluding of students with disabilities. Through investigations throughout the years leading up to 1972, they found out that millions of children were not receiving appropriate education in their schools. Later in the year of 1972 congress a law making it every student's right to have a free and appropriate education even if they have a disability
  • Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act

    Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act
    This act protects students with disabilities against discrimination. It was one of the first laws passed to protect students with disabilities. This made sure that no student whether they had a disability or not would get a proper education.
  • The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)

    The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
    This act was enacted to help protect every students educational records. This would help give the families some control the access people have to their records. Before a student turns 18 they must give consent for people to have access to their records.
  • The Education for All Handicapped Children Act (EAHCA)

    The Education for All Handicapped Children Act (EAHCA)
    This act made sure that all students with disabilities would get a free and appropriate education. Along with that they were also offered a free meal once a day while at school. This helped families and individuals help get a free proper education.
  • The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)

    This act forbids the discrimination against any person who has a disability. This not only protects people with their overall appearance but also in the workforce or by employers. It also made sure that every work place had accommodations for people with disabilities.
  • Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

    Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
    Act changes from being the EAHCA to the IDEA. Stays the same as the EAHCA but also adds some new components to it. School districts are now required to help students transition from high school to post secondary school or employment.
  • No Child Left Behind

    No Child Left Behind
    Was signed into law by George W. Bush. It made sure that all students had accessible ways to learn to meet their individual goals. This required all schools to teach basic skills that all students can learn.
