Soccer Played the Olympic games for the first time

Soccer was the first team sport added to the Olympics, in 1900. At first it was only a men's competition, in 1996 a women's event was added. In 1900-1904 tournaments were originally composed of demonstration matches, but have subsequently been upgraded to official status by the IOC with medals attributed to the teams based upon the match results.

FIFA was founded in Paris on May 21,1904. The founding members were the national associations of Belgium, Denmark, France, the Netherlands, Sweeden, and Switzerland. The championship has been awarded every four years since it's inaugural tournament in 1930. The current champions are Spain, who won the 2010 tournament.

The first FIFA World Cup was held in Montevideo, Uruguay. Uruguay was favourite not only for its Olympic gold medal in 1924 and 1928. The country was also celebrating its 100th anniversary in 1930. Uruguay was the first champion of the FIFA world cup, 2nd. Argentina, 3rd. USA, 4th. Yugoslavia.
The first game was played aat the brand-new Estadio Centenario Montevideon on July 18 1930.

CONCACAF was founded in its current form on 18 September 1961 in Mexico City, Mexico by the fusion of the NAFC and the CCCF, and it became one of the six continental confederations affiliated with FIFA. Its primary administrative functions are to organize competitions for national teams and clubs, and to conduct World Cup qualifying tournaments. Men's football in the region has been dominated by Mexico.

Fair Play Trophy

Fair Play TrophyThe FIFA Fair Play Trophy is given to the team with the best record of fair play during the World Cup final tournament. Only teams that qualified for the second round are considered. The winners of this award earn the FIFA Fair Play Trophy, a diploma, a fair play medal for each player and official, and $50,000 worth of football equipment to be used for youth development. Peru was the first nation to win the award after receiven no yellow or red cards in the 1970 FIFA.

David villa, player of Spain was one ot the top scorers with 5 goals.
