  • The Beginning

    Point Park University began as a one-room business school in 1933. (The exact date is not recoreded). The founder and President, of what was Point Park College was a teacher named Dorothy Finkelhor.

    locationBy 1960 (exact date unknown), the secretarial school moved to Acedemic Hall on Wood St. and became Point Park College.
  • Founder Retires

    After running the college for 34 years Dorothy decides to retire. Though the college was kept in the family and her son-in-law, Arthur Blum, assumed presidency. (exact date unknown)

    Interesting facts During Blum's reign he bought the Sherwyn Hotel and transformed it into one of the most important building on Point Park's Campus.

    University Information By 1980 Point Park College's enrollment consisted of over 1,000 students for the first time. Heading towards the numbers we have today.

    Point Park Univeristy In 2003 the college received University recognition with enrollment over 3,000 students.

    Paul HenniganPaul Hennigan takes presidency at the beginning of the 2006 fall semester. He continues to transform the University making many improvements to the campus and downtown Pittsburgh.

    Energy Award for Eco-friendly complex In 2007 the university added a $16 million dance complex to it's campus.

    More informationAs the campus continues to transform as a new additon was added to the campus, an urban park. The opening day ceromony was on September 14th 2011. The park is just one aspect in the many additions and changings in the Acedemic Village Transformation.
