The Study of the Body by Dissection
During the Renaissance it was legal to study the body by dissection, A lot of times, criminals would be sentenced to death by dissection as their death punishment. Doctors and scientists wanted to see how the body worked while it was still functioning so sometimes they did the dissections on a live patient. This allowed them to see a functioning body and then how the organs stopped as the person died. Dissection gave us a lot of insight as to how the organs and the systems of the body worked. -
