In this 300 year timespan, to treat the sickness the people tried preforming exorcisms to exorcise the spirits. One of these treatments was called trephining which caused people to drill holes in other peoples head. -
3100 BCE
Medicines used Today
In 3100 BC ancient people used some medicine we still use today. The people found that opium poppy if made right is a great pain killer, we know this as morphine in the present day. There was also different medicines they created like quinine which comes from the bark of a cinchona tree. This medicine helps with fever, relieves muscle spasms and, helps prevent malaria. -

The Egyptians were started to get more advanced by keeping medical records and finding out that evil spirits may not be the problem. Priests also acted as physicians, using medicines and splinting broken bones. -

the Chinese were the first to practice acupuncture. They used stone tools to treat sicknesses. -

The Greeks were the first to think the illness may be natural rather than spiritual by keeping records. The Greeks couldn’t dissect bodies because of there religion. There was one person who kept notes about diseases his name was Hippocrates. He found there was no spiritual force that caused illness. -

The Romans learned from the Greeks that poor sanitation caused illness. They made waterways and sewer systems to counter that. The Romans were also the first to organize medical care.They cared for wounded soldiers. With this they also made houses filled with sick/injured people creating the first hospitals. -

People stoped the research of medicine because they thought that life and death was in gods hands. There mai way of treating disease was praying. Only medicine they used was herbal mixtures. -

Edward found a way to prevent small pox. Creating one of the first vaccinations. This saved millions of lives. -
Robert Koch
Robert discovered many organism that caused disease. To find this out he created the plate where he would put the diseases on to identify them. He also said that good sanitation would help prevent diseases. -

- Vaccines are very important for preventing diseases. 2. Anesthesia is very useful for saving lives. It can be used to operate on patients. 3. Sterilized medical tools are also important so when operating there wont be an infection. 4.Modern day medicine is also good. There’s so many types that helps with different issues. 5. Finally last is all the machines we have to help with operations and scans.
